If you have a force feedback mouse, such as the iFeel mouse, or any USB infrared optical mouse, you will have some frame rate and sluggish game play problems. You may need to disable all background applications that maybe running including anti-virus software & Mice software. (Disable any running iFeel or USB optical mouse software) There may be an icon in your taskbar that you can disable. If this remedy does not work, you may need to use a standard non-force feedback or non-USB infrared mouse.

Note: Using Logitech iTouch or iFeel devices & XP along with GTA Vice City PC will cause sluggish game play & bad frame rates.

If you are using Windows XP & a Gravis game pad or a USB Logitech wingman of any kind there are problems with using those game pads with GTA Vice City at this time. Only workaround is to not use those controllers. Using these in XP will cause your player to go in circles to the left.

Also if you have any devices plugged into your serial port besides just your mouse will cause circle movements to the left. (Handheld Palm's, 3d tablets or serial cameras)

Any USB 'non-mouse' devices connected will cause this as well. Remove them all and the game should play fine. (Scanners, Printers, Handheld Palm’s, Digital Cameras)

If you have an Intel Celeron or an AMD Duron you will not see high-end frame rates. Due to the reduced cache on those processors you will have some sluggish frame rates in game.

GTA VC must be install using the default settings and must be installed on your primary partition for the game to work correctly.
Integrated Ramdac or No Ramdac listed video cards tend to run slower on XP then Internal Ramdac video cards.

For Better Game Performance:

VSYNC:

We recommend that you make sure you have set your video card to VSYNC ON in your video card advanced options (from Control Panel/Display Properties).

VIDEO

Turn down ‘DRAW DISTANCE’

Turn on ‘FRAME LIMITER’

Lower selected ‘RESOLUTION’

AUDIO

Turn off ‘DYNAMIC ACOUSTIC MODELLING’

Use ‘DIRECT SOUND HARDWARE’ or ‘DIRECT SOUND SOFTWARE’ Sound Providers.

DEFRAGMENT game after it has been run once. Turn off in the video card drivers ‘ANTI-ALIASING’ Shutdown all background applications (inside Win9X close everything except ‘Explorer’ and ‘Systray’; inside Windows2000 and XP close everything except ‘Explorer’).

Make sure you are using the latest motherboard / chipset / IDE / AGP drivers appropriate to your system.

Make sure all your Hard disks and CD drives have DMA mode enabled.

Use the latest graphic card drivers

Use the latest sound card drivers.

Changing either your video card or soundcard may mean that you get Grand Theft Auto: Vice City into an ""invalid"" settings state for the particular hardware. If you change hardware, to prevent having to un-install and re-install Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, perform the following:

Video card:-

- delete from the "Grand Theft Auto Vice City/models" directory the files "TXD.DIR" and "TXD.IMG" (if they exist)

- delete from the "Grand Theft Auto Vice City/data" directory the file "CAPS.DAT"

- delete from the "Documents and Settings/Current logged-in User/My Documents/GTA Vice City User Files" directory the "GTA_VC.SET" file.

Sound Card:-

- delete from the "Documents and Settings/Current logged-in User/ My Documents/GTA Vice City User Files" directory the "GTA_VC.SET" file.

Tror nog att spelet fungerar ändå, Take2 skriver ju bara "for the game to work correctly".

Jag tror dom syftar på att alla inställningar och savefiler sparas på c: och att spelet har bättre kontakt med filerna om de ligger på samma partition.

Vem vet, man kanske förlorar en liten FPS om man inte gör som supporten säger
