Ifall ni undrar varför det gick så dåligt för mitt lag på den här rundan så var det för att hela min squad höll på och fjantade runt uppe på motorvägen hela rundan. Har spelat i squad med tre bekanta hela eftermiddagen, så nu känner jag mig helt mosig. Ifall ni undrar varför det gick så dåligt för mitt lag på den här rundan så var det för att hela min squad höll på och fjantade runt uppe på motorvägen hela rundan. Lackade ur som fan! Första gången på länge som jag faktiskt slagit ner näven i tangentbordet och skrikit: "Nej, fasiken!" ..fast det gör jag i och för sig hela tiden när jag spelar på Hardcore-servrar. Hata! Själv är jag mer inne på att samla dogtags/ribbons än att ranka upp i det här tidiga skedet av spelet, faktiskt. Tur att jag aldrig spelade Pokemon, för jag fastnar rätt hårt i "Gotta catch 'em all"-tänket... Någon som har lyckats få suppression assist ribbon eller m-com defender ribbon? Har läst på flera forum att de är sjukt svåra att få. Jag har då inte lyckats än. Vill för övrigt passa på att nämna att ni inte ska känna er dissade för att jag (nästan) aldrig spelar med forumiter, det är bara så att jag i 90% av fallen spelar tillsammans med ett gäng vänner. Spoiler Die-Hard COD Player Tries BF3 The Call of Duty (CoD) series and the Battlefield series are both in the same genre but are both very different games. They also attract a lot of elitism and people seem to go out of their way to solely pick one or the other. Just looking at Metacritic users scores for Modern Warfare 3 the latest Call of Duty game reinforces this. For some reflection we bribed a die-hard Call of Duty player to play Battlefield 3 for a day and noted his opinions as the hours tumbled down. Our Call of Duty player (Player X) is well accomplished and achieved high prestige awards in previous games, so far with Modern Warfare 3 he is close to getting to this level already. After some convincing he agreed willingly as an experiment to be transplanted from CoD to BF3 and both versions were on the PS3. So, how did it go… Hour 1 The first hour was filled with much frustration, we got Player X to play conquest mode as this was one of the traditional play modes in Battlefield. Our player opted for the Assault class and never changed for the entire round, he also refused to take any vehicles stating: I don’t need vehicles for kills -- they’re for noobs We pointed our the irony and that its a good way to get to the heat of the battle but no avail. Player X was obliterated, every time he ran in without cover, tried to shoot from the hip and seeing we were playing on the Kharg Island map was often taken down by both helicopters and tanks. He also ignored squad orders and tried to take objectives rambo style. Ten minutes into the game and: This game is retarded, anyone with a vehicle wins and everyone is camping at the flags -- I’ve had enough of this stupid game. His score was 1 to 13, yep one kill to 13 deaths. We convinced him to continue stating that there is a learning curve, but never explained the way he should be playing or what he should be doing -- we wanted him to learn for him self. Player X after returning to the sofa after venting some anger has some noted improvement -- he is actually starting to use cover. When getting shot at, his instinct has changed from just shooting back, to shooting back while moving into cover. Also, the reliance on using iron sights and cross-hairs is now apparent. This provides a slight improvement on his stats, but the first two games are lost and Player X is last and second from last. Stupid tank campers! Hour 2 Player X having unlocked some equipment for the assault class is showing some signs of actually enjoying his play time, his points are improving. He is now seeing the benefit of spawning on his squad mates, he is still trying to take flags solely but doing all right mostly thanks to other team members supporting him and getting him out of tough spots. Did you see that bloke just turn to a pool of blood in front of me! The map is operation Firestorm, he’s running from point B to point C, however a tank shell zips over his head. He runs against the concrete wall that separates him and the tank. There is a partially damaged section, Player X decides to poke his head round to try and decide what to do next. Returning to cover, the tank completely decimates a piece of wall right in front of his eyes, walking backwards in awe the tank continues to destroy the wall piece by piece. He looks confused and turns to us: Did you see that? Player X seems to amazed at the realisation that nowhere is safe, he promptly dies. But, Player X then does something that he hasn’t done thus far -- he switches class to engineer. Time to bring the pain and take that kiddy out! With RPG in hand he returns to his death site, he managed to get a shot off and hits the ground near the aforementioned tank, luckily the area had AT mines and in an almost choreographed series of explosions the screen lights up with balls of fire and the 7.1 sound system ensures we feel the blasts. Player X is promptly showered with awards and from here on continues to switch between assault and engineer classes. Hour 3 Player X is certainly showing signs of enjoyment now, eager for the next round to start. His score isn’t close to 1:1 yet, but its getting there. The game starts and he is told he is now the squad leader, as he asks we tell him how to issue orders. How the hell am I suppose to hit the Select button while on the move !? He issues the first order, but then seems to forget about issuing orders after this, its not until later in the game and his squad inadvertently meets up to try and take back a flag that he earns some orders followed points. The flag has a lot of enemy activity, the support member of the squad begins firing and doesn’t stop -- the area is showered with walls of lead. Players X and two other members of the team take this opportunity to move up, dropping tango’s as they move. Its true team work, but before they can relish in their coordinated pain and enemy APC rolls up. The engineer of the squad splits off and Player X tries to escape through the forecourt of the gas station, as an inadvertent distraction Player X does well and the engineer manages to firstly disabled then destroy the APC, the flag is taken and the points roll in. Player X remarks: Now that’s team work. It seems a metaphorical switch has been tripped in Player X’s head, his play style is now a lot more squad based. He remembers he is the squad leader and begins issuing orders again, this provides him with many more additional points. Player X is now getting as many kills as deaths, and is bang centre in the final score table. Hour 4 Starting on Caspian border Player X runs directly into the driver seat of a waiting Jeep, he has occasionally dipped into vehicles before but never from the start -- then Player X makes a truly ground-breaking quip in the most casual way: I suppose I better wait for my squad mate. We are astounded, not only did Player X understand he will NEED a vehicle to get to the first point, he also waited for his team mates to accompany him. Its from here that we start seeing a real polar shift in play style, Player X is now actively switching between all classes, reacting to the battlefield. He also starts reviving people and dropping ammo, his play has swapped from rambo style hip shooting to tight squad based tactics in just over 4 hours. Moreover, he seems to actually be following squad orders, with the entire squad meeting at flag points to swiftly school the sleeping opposing team. Its at this point Player X doesn’t realise he’s not the squad leader, pointing close to a flag he spots a tank instead. This is his first spot, and I kid-you-not, within seconds of the spot a Jet hurls rockets at the clueless armour skimming its hull as it leaves scrap metal in its wake. There couldn’t have been any better example of why spotting is important, in that moment Player X seemed to realise this and suddenly all of it seemed to fall in place and we could see the gears grinding in his head. Hour 5 What have we created, Player X now seems to be Battlefield Veteran. He regularly receives an MVP award and points are bulked by supportive activities. Hey dude, take this ammo -- you’ll need it you haven’t hit anything yet, *laughs* Not only is he now moving and fighting as a squad, he utilises different class abilities based on situations, uses ground and air vehicles (mainly to get to places quick) and has decent load-outs with well picked perks. He is also positively glowing with joy at winning while being the Ace squad. Hour 6 Things have taken a turn for the worse, Player X now seems to have fallen into a different mentality. He is exclusively playing as Recon. We’re not sure what triggered this, but seems related to him getting owned by enemy snipers a few too many times. Pay backs a b*tch huh. We are bored watching him lay atop of buildings sniping people from afar but Player X seems more than happy. His KDR has improved drastically with recent scores citing figures similar to 28-2, however his points are nowhere near his former glory but ribbons roll in quick and regularly. Things only get worse as he unlocks more powerful rifles and the aerial drone. He occasionally proclaims: Why put in the effort as a squad when you can sit back and own noobs and get monster kill streaks! Along with other similar exclamations. Hour 7 Player X has received a few hate message over PSN, this seems to have no affect and even on small maps Player X doesn’t switch class. Even as the opposing team coordinate to take him out, he simply relocates and starts over. It doesn’t seem that his play style is going to change any time soon and despite his glorious matches earlier on he no longer seems to care any more for team work and is now starting matches choosing not to be in a squad as: The squad orders are distracting and when they spawn on you its gives away your position Our own team has started venting its anger over chat and one complaint too many causes him to scream: They’ll obviously don’t appreciate my ‘epicness’ so f*ck’em …and with that quits out. It has been a long day with up’s and down’s but the next day after some rest we do get Player X’s opinion on the whole affair. Players X’s view I’ve never played a Battlefield game before and was surprised, I always thought that Battlefield was just a cheap version of COD. It has a lot going on and the destruction was something I was surprised with its something COD could use as it makes it all more pressurised. I really like the weapons especially the sniper rifles, I’m not sure if the vehicles are needed and they seem more used for transport, I would much prefer if it was a solider only affair. The knife doesn’t seem right and its difficult to kill someone unless you are directly behind them. The equipment for certain classes is good, but the recon seems under-powered and doesn’t have anything against vehicles. I enjoyed my time once I unlocked some better equipment and can see myself specialising as a recon, I don’t know if I would buy the game though as I still prefer CoD and like the way kill streaks work and perks merge. Our view We were initially amused trying to see Player X run and gun Ramdo style and try to knife people from the front. As time went on however Player X seemed to really understand the team mechanic but this seemed more like exploration and a way to get quick points. It was all over once he discovered he didn’t have to work as a team to get high kills and high scores and although we agree Snipers are sometimes needed they are not needed through-out the whole match for every match. We were pleased to see that Player X was able to reform and understood the mechanics and actually tried all the different styles of play on offer, finishing the experiment at this point would have been a success but sometimes you just can’t change a person and their natural traits will always shine through -- even if belated. Player X just seems to be hard-coded to aim for a good KDR and long kill streaks, something that saddens us to the core. Men ja samma sak där också med Armor vehicle dem spawn campade med den också. Varför kan dem inte till dela två styckna för? Märkt att den har spawnat vid fienden 4 gånger. These changes will also be implemented for consoles when we release the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 updates shortly. Stay tuned for the exact date of the console updates. First, we need to look at how joining with Squads and Platoons affects the balance of teams. Initially, servers are commanded to equal out each side, so joining with friends can impact that balance while joining with Platoons further hinders this. As a result we have made some adjustments to the in-game Squad management screen. For PC, you are now able to highlight the various Squads and select which one you wish to join by selecting a Squad and then clicking the Join Squad button. Please note that the Squad Privacy option still allows 2 man Squads which, during 64 player sessions, can lead to players with no squad position –- the number of people with no Squads will be shown at the bottom of the Squad selection list. After the patch is applied to consoles (in the near future) you will be able to join Squads by cycling through the list and selecting which Squad you wish to join. Trodde det var meningen att den skulle vara en best, precis som i BC2.
