What is ThotMarket?

ThotMarket.com is a social bookmarking website that provides links to interesting and useful content on the web. The links featured on ThotMarket have all been submitted by our users much like many other websites like Digg.com and Reddit.com. ThotMarket is a little different than those sites, however, in the way that these links are ranked. On this site, users buy and sell shares in these links very much like how investors trade shares of companies on the regular stock market. Links on the site are ranked by their trading price, with the more valuable links ranked higher.

Wait a minute. Are people actually investing real money in this market?

No. ThotMarket is a virtual stock market, meaning that no actual money is involved. Users are actually just trading credits within the system.

ThotMarket is a fancy new website that simulates the stock market, but everything is based on ideas that people submit. In this way it works a bit like Digg. There are no limits on what you can submit, so people are allowed, and encouraged, to submit anything that they think will be bought by the collective consumer. No real money is spent, but it is the internet, so clearly the more money you have, the cooler you are.

You start out with $100. To gain money you buy stock in something that you think will go up. If the stock goes up, you'll get an amount determined by how much it has gone up since ou bought it. If you own a stock(submitted it yourself), you'll get a certain revenue per day depending on how much other people have invested in it.
