Text: They're selling postcards of the hanging They're painting the passports brown The beauty parlor is filled with sailors The circus is in town Here comes the blind commissioner They've got him in a trance One hand is tied to the tight-rope walker The other is in his pants And the riot squad they're restless They need somewhere to go As Lady and I look out tonight From Desolation Row Cinderella, she seems so easy "It takes one to know one," she smiles And puts her hands in her back pockets Bette Davis style And in comes Romeo, he's moaning "You Belong to Me I Believe" And someone says," You're in the wrong place, my friend You better leave" And the only sound that's left After the ambulances go Is Cinderella sweeping up On Desolation Row Now the moon is almost hidden The stars are beginning to hide The fortunetelling lady Has even taken all her things inside All except for Cain and Abel And the hunchback of Notre Dame Everybody is making love Or else expecting rain And the Good Samaritan, he's dressing He's getting ready for the show He's going to the carnival tonight On Desolation Row Now Ophelia, she's 'neath the window For her I feel so afraid On her twenty-second birthday She already is an old maid To her, death is quite romantic She wears an iron vest Her profession's her religion Her sin is her lifelessness And though her eyes are fixed upon Noah's great rainbow She spends her time peeking Into Desolation Row Einstein, disguised as Robin Hood With his memories in a trunk Passed this way an hour ago With his friend, a jealous monk He looked so immaculately frightful As he bummed a cigarette Then he went off sniffing drainpipes And reciting the alphabet Now you would not think to look at him But he was famous long ago For playing the electric violin On Desolation Row Dr. Filth, he keeps his world Inside of a leather cup But all his sexless patients They're trying to blow it up Now his nurse, some local loser She's in charge of the cyanide hole And she also keeps the cards that read "Have Mercy on His Soul" They all play on penny whistles You can hear them blow If you lean your head out far enough From Desolation Row Across the street they've nailed the curtains They're getting ready for the feast The Phantom of the Opera A perfect image of a priest They're spoonfeeding Casanova To get him to feel more assured Then they'll kill him with self-confidence After poisoning him with words And the Phantom's shouting to skinny girls "Get Outa Here If You Don't Know Casanova is just being punished for going To Desolation Row" Now at midnight all the agents And the superhuman crew Come out and round up everyone That knows more than they do Then they bring them to the factory Where the heart-attack machine Is strapped across their shoulders And then the kerosene Is brought down from the castles By insurance men who go Check to see that nobody is escaping To Desolation Row Praise be to Nero's Neptune The Titanic sails at dawn And everybody's shouting "Which Side Are You On?" And Ezra Pound and T. S. Eliot Fighting in the captain's tower While calypso singers laugh at them And fishermen hold flowers Between the windows of the sea Where lovely mermaids flow And nobody has to think too much About Desolation Row Yes, I received your letter yesterday (About the time the door knob broke) When you asked how I was doing Was that some kind of joke? All these people that you mention Yes, I know them, they're quite lame I had to rearrange their faces And give them all another name Right now I can't read too good Don't send me no more letters no Not unless you mail them From Desolation Row [De sektioner som jag gillar mest har jag fetmarkerat.]
Mathias Skrivet 20 november, 2005 Rapportera Share Skrivet 20 november, 2005 Hammerfall - Destined for glory Once upon a time in a forlorn land, a man on a mission was left at fates hand In his eyes you could see the whites turn red Surrounded by evil, abandoned for dead Born on the run by the sign of the sun A mail-clad warrior, the chosen one His name's been cursed, he is bound to fail A wandering spirit with the will to prevail By the sign of the moon, he swore the oath to fight alone Fight with your heart, and you're Destined For Glory But fight without honor, and you're destined to fall He still can recall his father's words "Don't loose your faith, let your voice be heard" Echoes from the past will lead him on By these words of honor, shine like the sun By the sign of the moon He swore the oath to fight alone Fight with your heart, and you're Destined For Glory But fight without honor, and you're destined to fall Fight with your heart, and you're Destined For Glory But fight without soul and you will loose it all The prophecies spoke of a wandering man Skilled with steel, black as the night Normally veiled from the mortal eyes His hammer arose like a magic force With a gaze that turned everything into stone the warrior spoke, "I am the one" Fight with your heart, and you're Destined For Glory But fight without honor, and you're destined to fall Fight with your heart, and you're Destined For Glory But fight without soul and you will loose it all Fight with your heart, and you're Destined For Glory But fight without honor, and you're destined to fall Fight with your heart, and you're Destined For Glory But fight without soul and you will loose it all Citera Länk till kommentar Dela på andra sidor

GTApimpfoolife Skrivet 20 november, 2005 Rapportera Share Skrivet 20 november, 2005 Det här är läskigt svårt. Men det får bli en litan överraskning. Iron Maiden - Rime of The Ancient Mariner Hear the rime of the Ancient Mariner See his eye as he stops one of three Mesmerises one of the wedding guests Stay here and listen to the nightmares of the Sea And the music plays on, as the bride passes by Caught by his spell and the Mariner tells his tale. Driven south to the land of the snow and ice To a place where nobody's been Through the snow fog flies on the albatross Hailed in God's name, hoping good luck it brings. And the ship sails on, back to the North Through the fog and ice and the albatross follows on The mariner kills the bird of good omen His shipmates cry against what he's done But when the fog clears, they justify him And make themselves a part of the crime. Sailing on and on and North across the sea Sailing on and on and North 'till all is calm The albatross begins with its vengeance A terrible curse a thirst has begun His shipmates blame bad luck on the Mariner About his neck, the dead bird is hung. And the curse goes on and on at sea And the curse goes on and on for them and me. "Day after day, day after day, we stuck nor breath nor motion As idle as a painted ship upon a painted ocean Water, water everywhere and all the boards did shrink Water, water everywhere nor any drop to drink." [sAMUEL TAYLOR COLERIDGE (1798-1834)] There, calls the mariner there comes a ship over the line But how can she sail with no wind in her sails and no tide. See... onward she comes Onwards she nears, out of the sun See... she has no crew She has no life, wait but there's two Death and she Life in Death, they throw their dice for the crew She wins the Mariner and he belongs to her now. Then ... crew one by one They drop down dead, two hundred men She... She, Life in Death. She lets him live, her chosen one. [NARRATIVE] "One after one by the star dogged moon, too quick for groan or sigh Each turned his face with a ghastly pang and cursed me with his eye Four times fifty living men (and I heard nor sigh nor groan), With heavy thump, a lifeless lump, they dropped down one by one." [sAMUEL TAYLOR COLERIDGE (1798-1834)] The curse it lives on in their eyes The Mariner he wished he'd die Along with the sea creatures But they lived on, so did he. And by the light of moon He prays for their beauty not doom With heart he blesses them God's creatures all of them too. Then the spell starts to break The albatross falls from his neck Sinks down like lead into the Sea Then down in falls comes the rain. Hear the groans od the long dead seamen See them stir and they start to rise Bodies lifted by good spirits None of them speak and they're lifeless in their eyes And revenge is still sought, penance starts again Cast into a trance and the nightmare carries on. Now the curse is finally lifted And the Mariner sights his home Spirits go from the long dead bodies Form their own light and the Mariner's left alone And then a boat came sailing towards him It was a joy he could not believe The Pilot's boat, his son and the hermit Penance of life will fall onto Him. And the ship it sinks like lead into the sea And the hermit shrieves the mariner of his sins The Mariner's bound to tell of his story To tell his tale wherever he goes To teach God's Håller med till 100%! by his own example That we must love all things that God made. And the wedding guest's a sad and wiser man And the tale goes on and on and on.

virre cool Skrivet 20 november, 2005 Rapportera Share Skrivet 20 november, 2005 Bob Dylan - The hurricane Pistols shots ring out in the barroom night Enter Patty Valentine from the upper hall She sees the bartender in a pool of blood Cries out "My God they killed them all" Here comes the story of the Hurricane The man the authorities came to blame For something that he never done Put him in a prison cell but one time he could-a been The champion of the world. Three bodies lying there does Patty see And another man named Bello moving around mysteriously "I didn't do it" he says and he throws up his hands "I was only robbing the register I hope you understand I saw them leaving" he says and he stops "One of us had better call up the cops" And so Patty calls the cops And they arrive on the scene with their red lights flashing In the hot New Jersey night. Meanwhile far away in another part of town Rubin Carter and a couple of friends are driving around Number one contender for the middleweight crown Had no idea what kinda shit was about to go down When a cop pulled him over to the side of the road Just like the time before and the time before that In Patterson that's just the way things go If you're black you might as well not shown up on the street 'Less you wanna draw the heat. Alfred Bello had a partner and he had a rap for the corps Him and Arthur Dexter Bradley were just out prowling around He said "I saw two men running out they looked like middleweights They jumped into a white car with out-of-state plates" And Miss Patty Valentine just nodded her head Cop said "Wait a minute boys this one's not dead" So they took him to the infirmary And though this man could hardly see They told him that he could identify the guilty men. Four in the morning and they haul Rubin in Take him to the hospital and they bring him upstairs The wounded man looks up through his one dying eye Says "Wha'd you bring him in here for ? He ain't the guy !" Yes here comes the story of the Hurricane The man the authorities came to blame For something that he never done Put in a prison cell but one time he could-a been The champion of the world. Four months later the ghettos are in flame Rubin's in South America fighting for his name While Arthur Dexter Bradley's still in the robbery game And the cops are putting the screws to him looking for somebody to blame "Remember that murder that happened in a bar ?" "Remember you said you saw the getaway car?" "You think you'd like to play ball with the law ?" "Think it might-a been that fighter you saw running that night ?" "Don't forget that you are white". Arthur Dexter Bradley said "I'm really not sure" Cops said "A boy like you could use a break We got you for the motel job and we're talking to your friend Bello Now you don't wanta have to go back to jail be a nice fellow You'll be doing society a favor That sonofabitch is brave and getting braver We want to put his ass in stir We want to pin this triple murder on him He ain't no Gentleman Jim". Rubin could take a man out with just one punch But he never did like to talk about it all that much It's my work he'd say and I do it for pay And when it's over I'd just as soon go on my way Up to some paradise Where the trout streams flow and the air is nice And ride a horse along a trail But then they took him to the jailhouse Where they try to turn a man into a mouse. All of Rubin's cards were marked in advance The trial was a pig-circus he never had a chance The judge made Rubin's witnesses drunkards from the slums To the white folks who watched he was a revolutionary bum And to the black folks he was just a crazy nigger No one doubted that he pulled the trigger And though they could not produce the gun The DA said he was the one who did the deed And the all-white jury agreed. Rubin Carter was falsely tried The crime was murder 'one' guess who testified Bello and Bradley and they both baldly lied And the newspapers they all went along for the ride How can the life of such a man Be in the palm of some fool's hand ? To see him obviously framed Couldn't help but make me feel ashamed to live in a land Where justice is a game. Now all the criminals in their coats and their ties Are free to drink martinis and watch the sun rise While Rubin sits like Buddha in a ten-foot cell An innocent man in a living hell That's the story of the Hurricane But it won't be over till they clear his name And give him back the time he's done Put him in a prison cell but one time he could-a been The champion of the world Citera Länk till kommentar Dela på andra sidor

Annars har Talking World War III Blues, med samma artist, en väldigt fyndig text: Some time ago a crazy dream came to me, I dreamt I was walkin' into World War Three, I went to the doctor the very next day To see what kinda words he could say. He said it was a bad dream. I wouldn't worry 'bout it none, though, They were my own dreams and they're only in my head. I said, "Hold it, Doc, a World War passed through my brain." He said, "Nurse, get your pad, this boy's insane," He grabbed my arm, I said "Ouch!" As I landed on the psychiatric couch, He said, "Tell me about it." Well, the whole thing started at 3 o'clock fast, It was all over by quarter past. I was down in the sewer with some little lover When I peeked out from a manhole cover Wondering who turned the lights on. Well, I got up and walked around And up and down the lonesome town. I stood a-wondering which way to go, I lit a cigarette on a parking meter And walked on down the road. It was a normal day. Well, I rung the fallout shelter bell And I leaned my head and I gave a yell, "Give me a string bean, I'm a hungry man." A shotgun fired and away I ran. I don't blame them too much though, I know I look funny. Down at the corner by a hot-dog stand I seen a man, I said, "Howdy friend, I guess there's just us two." He screamed a bit and away he flew. Thought I was a Communist. Well, I spied a girl and before she could leave, "Let's go and play Adam and Eve." I took her by the hand and my heart it was thumpin' When she said, "Hey man, you crazy or sumpin', You see what happened last time they started." Well, I seen a Cadillac window uptown And there was nobody aroun', I got into the driver's seat And I drove 42nd Street In my Cadillac. Good car to drive after a war. Well, I remember seein' some ad, So I turned on my Conelrad. But I didn't pay my Con Ed bill, So the radio didn't work so well. Turned on my player- It was Rock-A-Day, Johnny singin', "Tell Your Ma, Tell Your Pa, Our Loves Are Gonna Grow Ooh-wah, Ooh-wah." I was feelin' kinda lonesome and blue, I needed somebody to talk to. So I called up the operator of time Just to hear a voice of some kind. "When you hear the beep It will be three o'clock," She said that for over an hour And I hung it up. Well, the doctor interrupted me just about then, Sayin, "Hey I've been havin' the same old dreams, But mine was a little different you see. I dreamt that the only person left after the war was me. I didn't see you around." Well, now time passed and now it seems Everybody's having them dreams. Everybody sees themselves walkin' around with no one else. Half of the people can be part right all of the time, Some of the people can be all right part of the time. But all the people can't be all right all the time I think Abraham Lincoln said that. "I'll let you be in my dreams if I can be in yours," I said that.

Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head See, the sea wants to take me The knife wants to slit me Do you think you can help me ? Sad veiled bride, please be happy Handsome groom, give her room Loud, loutish lover, treat her kindly (Though she needs you More than she loves you) And I know it's over - still I cling I don't know where else I can go Over and over and over and over Over and over, la ...
